July 8, 2008 - Summer time, and having a blast!

Thanks to Top Hat/Smokeys for opening up their business to the Sault Roller Girls and allowing us to do a fundraising pub. All of the girls enjoyed the food, drinks, and had a great time! We were able to raise over $500 through our fundraising efforts. Also a huge thanks to everyone who bought tickets and came out to support.

The Sault Roller Girls will also be participating in the Rotary Fest parade this year! It will be taking place on July 19 at 11:00am - So make sure to keep your eyes peeled!

Yarrr! Make sure to purchase your tickets for the SRG Pirate Booze Cruise on August 15! We will be taking over Lock City Boat Cruises for a night of drinking and pirate fun! Tickets are only $15 - which includes door prize entry, roller wenches, and jolly pirate fun and surprises. Plus their will be lucky sucker draws, pizza ($1.25/slice), prize for best costume and maybe a little booty!

June 15, 2008 - Out and about in the community!

The Sault Roller Girls League launch party was a lot of fun. With a theme of 1970s glam disco, how could it not be?! Everyone dressed up in there best outfits, and danced the night away in true 70s fashion.

The Sault Roller Girls had a fundraising car wash, as well as a garage on June 7th to raise some much needed money for the league. We were able to raise over $200, and all of the items left from the garage sale were donated to Women In Crisis (Algoma) Inc. We happily brought them women's and baby clothing, books, and various home furnishings.

The Cancer Society's Relay 4 Life, was the Sault Roller Girls first big event. We raised over $1200 for the fight against cancer, and had a blast at the relay, skating and walking for all those who have been touched by cancer.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported us along the way, and has donated to either our league, or to us for the Relay 4 Life. You are helping us make a difference!

Please take some time to check out our ScrapeBook > Events for pictures of the Sault Roller Girls out and about in the community. Also, our new Supported Charities page!

April 28, 2008 - Gone to see the roller derby!

Hey ladies and gents,

Some of the Sault Roller Girls just got back yesterday from taking a little trip down to Grand Rapids. We went down to see the Windy City Rollers (Chicago - one of the founding leagues) and Grand Raggidy Roller Girls (Grand Rapids) play against each other and it was awesome! They all played really hard, and it was a treat to see. Hard hits, fishnet, cute girls, and screaming fans. Windy City came out on top, but they all won at the after party. It was nice to meet you ladies! We hope to see them all again soon.

Practice is starting on May 1st for all of the roller girls - so exciting!! Practice will be every Monday and Thursday from 8pm-10pm at the Tarentorus Sports Club.

Open recruitment night is May 8th - so anyone interested in being a part of the action we would love to have you come out! <3

Hey ladies and gents,

The Sault Roller Girls have been working very hard the past few weeks to prepare for our very first season. From fundraising to skating and much much more - we have not stopped!

We would like to thank Wing Nuts for opening up their restaurant to us and donating 10% of sales from each customer who was there to support us. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and the fun and friendly atmosphere! Thanks so much to everyone who came out - we were able to raise a bit of money and every little bit helps when you are a budding league.

Please visit wingnuts.ca for their menu and more information.

Lots of events are going to be coming up, so please keep your eyes peeled on our events page for updates!

    February 24, 2008 - Here we come!

Hey ladies and gents,

The Sault Roller Girls have been receiving a lot of happy news lately! We are wrapping up the February 17 Fundraiser PUB, got a solid practice space, and are going to have an article printed about us in the Sault Star!

As most of you know we had an amazing fundraising pub and were happily suprised with the results. We were able to raise money to help advance our league to the next stage of developement. We were also able to promote and bring community awareness to the sport of Women's Flat-Track Roller Derby in Sault Ste. Marie, and had a blast while doing it! A special thanks to all of the generous businesses who helped make this happen, and to our family, friends, and fans who came out to support us!

Tarentorous also let us know a couple of days ago that they are in! Practice starts the very end of April. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for updates about practices and bouts, so you could come see us in action!

Sault Roller Girls make the paper! Grab a copy of Monday's Sault Star, because the Sault Roller Girls will have an article printed! Don't miss out!

November 13, 2007 - Upcoming Fundraiser and more!

Hey girls and boys!

The meeting on November 6th went very well! We now have a few very dedicated and kick ass ladies in the league, and things are going great! Be sure to hit up our events page for all of the upcoming fun! Get involved!

Ice skate (yes, ice, lol) at John Rhodes on Tuesday November 20 ~ 8-9 pm. It is $2.50 for adults. So, get those skates sharpened, and come on out for some fun. There will be a meeting upstairs at Brody's after. It will be a good opportunity to go over all of our new information, and meet some new girls, and talk derby!

The Sault Roller Girls are gettin' crafty! November 25, 12-3 pm at the Elk we will be selling some kick ass crafts to raise money for the league. We will need some craft donations. Crafts can also be sold at our table, so long as a portion of the proceeds go to SRG. Full donations would be very appreciated as well! So, if you or anyone you know makes some cool crafts, e-mail us: info@saultrollergirls.com!

Stay tuned, we should have a practice space soon! Then we can really reak some roller derby havoc!

    October 21, 2007 - Let's Get Rollin'

Hey guys and gals! This past roller derby meeting on Oct. 2 didn't draw as many people as hoped. There will likely be another meeting the first Tuesday of November. So, don't be shy! Keep your eyes peeled for more info.

Things for the SRG have started going better. This past month I had an interview on CBC radio, and I got some good feedback from it. There are some other possible interviews lined up for the upcoming weeks too. Thanks to a lot of very supportive friends who have been helping spread the word about the Sault Roller Girls! You guys rock, and you are helping make this happen!

    August 10, 2007 - Rankin Arena

Great news! I have been calling around today to find a place for us to have bouts, and the manager of the Rankin Arena said that he would love to help us out! Next year from May-August the rink is ice-free so will be able to hold practices and bouts there! So that is going to help out a lot.

I am also waiting to hear back from a few other places about facilities to practice in during the fall and winter. So hopefully that will all work out. I really would like to get in contact with the girl who are interested in the league, so don't be shy and email us!

Ohh, and we will be putting some posters up soon, so keep and eye out!
